This infrastructure is not built on standalone boxes behind a load balancer, this is a scalable Kubernetes cluster with multiple nodes, backed by distributed NVMe storage. The entire cluster management is done through a GitOps, there is nothing minor about how upgrades are handled on this, a failed upgrade would need knowledge of how to troubleshoot and diag Kubernetes via console.
Monitoring this entire cluster isn’t just watching CPU and Memory usage of the servers, you need to keep an eye on all the pods, storage space, IOPs, failed pods, OOM kills, Prometheus, nginx, etc …
Automation will get you only so far before it will bite you in the ass cause you relied on it to much and didn’t catch something cause you were not watching close enough.
Being that this is infrastructure for a crypto wallet, I would be keen to keep the number of people with access to this system as minimum as possible and to only trusted people.
I think you should make your self clear first.
Lack of unity is the the first aid to perform , and the money you spent made very little difference for lunc.
works have done by you or your team so far is not worth the money the community paying you.
what is going no with your road maps on your website?
what exactly does your team composed of? I don’t even see them , or their twiter. I can see only you,
and stations make by your team is not very helpful for lunc future, what unity will you bring to the chain?
activities on github should not be only you . anything you build should be opensource to every one. these belong to the community, your repos in github should have public members.
YOU CAN NOT USE THE FUNDS OTHER THAN THAT ARE NOT IN THE PROPS.
if you need to buy servers you should raise a Prop for community to vote.
you can not decide where the funds to go without the permission of the community.
YOU can not ask the community to pay for moniting servers or rase your team by not knowing what future you guys going to bring us.
I respectfully have a separate view on this topic. I’d suggest that an organization (paid by LUNC community) - instead of a couple of devs - would monitor the said cluster far better (and have better redundancy options) - and cheaper. There are plenty available globally and maybe we can go shopping prior to sealing the deal. You as TR mod could be the custodian of the said cluster and perform audits/ensure the system is working as per design/is secure etc etc. - on a regular (but not daily) basis. In the end - this might be a cheaper way for LUNC community to progress until we have enough funds to fund you…
Just thinking out loud - happy for feedback/comments.
So get the bids. Form a legal body to sign contracts with.
Factor in @echel0n pay for audits.
Present the options to community. Make a proposal.
When can we expect this?
“Cheap” is not what you want to hear when Community wants to go from a 1b chain back to 10-20-30 billion chain.
Some commenters here are pinching pennies while hoping LUNC and USTC appreciation to a dollar.
Incredibly short sighted and foolish.
I deny your false allegation, I have not been deceived, and have done as the Lord has led me, including to ask for the additional security assurances which were provided. The 150k prop was passed by 80% YES vote (a big mandate) by the community 4 months ago and the work was completed in full by the Terra Rebels. This spend prop is for 37.6k per quarter (works out to 150k per year at current costs) for 24/7 maintenance and ongoing infrastructure costs and is worth it.
Having a solid alternative to TFL is important. Yes we have the money for it, with 330k USD in the CP right now, and if you’re worried about our funding rate it only takes 7 to 14 days to raise our on-chain tax or adjust the tax split (like my 75/25% prop which failed) to have more funding. That option is available to the community at any time and is one I support. I’ve detailed my reasons sufficiently why I support this prop and believe it’s good for LUNC.
In fact, @wrapped_dday could have also done that with his proposal last time. Every single voter would have voted on his previous plan even it had been a small spending prop, but he did not do that.
Even if he is in a different state of mind currently, he has that humility, respect and dignity in him not to do what TR did. What TR did is exactly how it has been described by @lunaticlunclover69 . There was a lot of trust put on them since they were the L1 team as well. And this trust did not end up well.
I am not against this proposal or any other, but I am just commenting on the obvious. The rest is what we decide we wanna do about that.
TY Tonu_Magi for your feedback.
It was just a thought - stating in any engineering organization (where I make my living - aerospace) maintenance work is usually done by interns/graduates with a single senior engineer in-charge of the team. This team does not undertake any upgrades/updates/tech refresh/VnV or similar engineering taskings - but only maintains the system to its accepted state. Maybe cheapest was not the correct term - but most financially stable? Something to think about - as 30-40k for 3x months might not be the money we have available to spend…
Regardless, TY for your feedback.
Tell me exactly what we said we would do but did NOT do in the previous spend prop? last I checked we accomplished everything and more!
The $150k amount in the previous prop was a flat-rate, and it was a number that ticked all the boxes for us to even consider doing the work, it has nothing to do with what it would take to get the work done line item by line item, its all about what it would take for us to even consider doing the work and putting our life and family time on hold to do it, so the amount we gave was exactly what thought would compensate for that, and we listed exactly what we would accomplish in that prop and delivered on every aspect of what we wrote.
This current prop also has a number that we think is more then fair to entice us to consider doing the work 24/7 well also holding down our day jobs and family time, and if you think you can do it better and cheaper, then I beg you to put up your own prop and show us it can be done please.
That’s right and I hold the community responsible for any high costs that we had to pay for the last work.
You had stated your budget and we had agreed to it.
It is definitely our fault if we did not negotiate with you at that point of time.
So we cannot hold you responsible now.
Yes, we would have held you responsible had you not finished the work. But there are no grounds for that since you have finished the work.
We are faced with two options currently. Either we move ahead with this or be reliant upon a wallet that is currently being served/maintained by two very questionable companies by popular opinion.
I actually don’t see fault on any side of this, the community felt there was a need for what we proposed and saw the value in it, and its up to the community to now decide if they still see that same value.
I think it’s a lesson learned for everyone to pay more attention to spending proposals and to make sure the proposal is itemized appropriately.
As @arunadaybasu said the community is responsible for any high costs that had to pay for the last work. But then again this work was one of our first, so the “modus operandi” was not there yet, and we get wiser (I would think) as we move forward…
Might worth start discussing some basic rules as a community that apply to ALL spending proposals.
Like:
All spending proposals MUST be itemized
Deliverables against all itemized components must be evidenced at the end of the spending proposal allotted period
Surplus funds for the undelivered itemized components MUST be returned to the CP at the end of the spending proposal allotted period
My suggestion to TR if this proposal fails – modify Rebel Station and the other services you provide into a pay model. Make people pay a fee to use your applications and services on either a per transaction basis or per year basis or one time fee. By account or wallet, whatever works. Make your money that way. You can charge either LUNC, USTC or fiat. It may be the only way consistent funding gets assured given how the LUNC community currently views paying for development in general and TR in particular.
Keplr is 100k or so.
I do have Keplr extension, but no matter how much I looked, I didn’t find the most important parts regarding our chain: Staking & Proposal Voting.
You seem to be smart feller there, praising Keplr over Rebel Station, so maybe you can guide me?
People will be afraid or they will not feel motivated to invest time and money in a blockchain where they will not have the necessary support to carry out what they propose or what the blockchain needs at that moment.
Staking voting claiming rewards all available on keplr mobile no problem I have TS and keplr on phone if TS doesn’t work keplr does Not sure when lunc paid keplr the 100k I must have missed it …When does lunc pay them the next maintenance bill??
