Separation of Rebel Station from TFL infrastructure

Without going into detail, all this has already been thought of and planned for, its also why so much time has passed and gone into this, it needs to be done right the first time.

Cloud services are very expensive when it comes down to always-on high available system topologies especially when the backend needs to be on high-performance SSDs measured in multiple TBs :expressionless:

Maybe could be used in the future for CDN and docker microservices offloading…but then again we need first to learn to walk before we attempt to fly!

What is a specification (detail) for all servers that cost $5954.00 each?

The blockchain is run by 130 validators - that is the network that runs the blockchain.

This is mainly to have independent background services for front-end Layer 2 web wallet, and a potential forum (and those background services can be used for other tools such as finder). This allows for an independent option from TFL’s infrastructure and background services that have continued to, thankfully, run these services and tools (and trying to accomplish that at a fraction of the cost TFL has to work with). Thankfully there have been some others too that have provided some public independent background services and infrastructure as well (although with limitations). It is at least one option for independent background services running on scalable infrastructure for Layer 2 applications and tools to interact with the blockchain.

Sure!

Terra Rebels will have to decide if they would like to answer that question. I will say though, at least from reading through the proposal description, that the infrastructure costs were not part of the proposal (and I believe the infrastructure itself is being covered by the deal between Terra Rebels and Neblio). The proposal was mainly for separating out the background services to provide an independent option for background services.

Transparency in a relationship requires honesty and trust . You may know.

@aeuser999 is there a security reason that’s stopping TR disclose this information? I would also be interested to know the specs of the kit we are using to host our Station…

Sure, details would be nice, but they are temporary.
The hardware is entirely Terra Rebels and it’s ran on that cluster until TR is associated with TC/willing to run it.

They said it plenty last year - if they decide to exit this microverse, they will help with knowledge/information base for Community to take over and host/source their own system.
Community bought the app and associated work. Not the hardware.

@Tonu_Magi I hear what you are saying but purchasing (provision) the backend infrastructure is stated as the first bullet point on the proposal. Are the ā€œpurchased serversā€ mentioned part of provisioned VMs from a hosting provider (datacentre) rather than colo where we own the rack footprint and gear in it?

Btw, I am talking to you with the assumption you are a member of the TR team, so please let me know should that not be the case.

The details / specs of the equipment will not be disclosed, countless hours of research and planning went into determining those hardware specs.

You just made-up story all these receipts for what?

Not sure why you keep trying to FUD about the purchases, the servers where purchased from a company called Techbuyer, we expect to receive them by the 9th of March as there are delays in sourcing parts.

FUD? No sir, for days I ask same and simple question but never get concrete and based upon facts answer?
So I understood that you and your gang never bought any server (not at all) but just made-up story to get free money from community!

That would be of your own opinion, a simple google search will show you the company Techbuyer is a legit company with a long history, facts show we have our LCD, FCD and API all up and running right now on the bulk of the equipment we have purchased over the past month in a pre-production state, so think what you want, TR is still here and still building, we are doing exactly what we said we would!

So we went for bare metal.

Without giving the specific model/version etc. did we go dual multicore CPU with SSD data RAID and over 64GB RAM?

Fairly standard that servers come with 2x CPUs, requirements to run terrad is NVMe so thats what we went with, our storage solution is custom and scalable, and we have plenty of RAM, everything can be scaled when needed as well.

Hi @godoal ,

Personally I would not think there is anything stopping them, and I do agree with @Nanook994 that transparency and honesty in a relationship builds trust. The problem is that many have taken to using any and every piece of information given to attack with - so I can see why Terra Rebels may be hesitant to share much of anything, other than forward progress, to prevent others using it to fuel a fire with.

On the point of provisioning, I would take this, at least from my background in Information Technology, to be the setup, according to a plan, in order to make it usable (so it would be independent of the hardware itself - and this post made it clear the hardware itself was not necessarily part of the proposal).

That is not to say there have been reasonable criticisms raised, truthfully on both sides in my estimation, but I can also see how it turned into a destructive environment as well - and for that I can understand why a person or entity in that situation might be hesitant to share much beyond the progress being made.

I do see that @echel0n did share some further information on Terra Rebels’ behalf.

Nice! Do we use a direct analog (to prd) in our pre-prod setup that we’re currently on? It feels a bit sluggish at times…

@aeuser999, I agree with your statement, and thanks for the post referral point.
