PSA: LUNA Initial Circulating Supply at Genesis (Surprise)

I’ve analysed the penultimate-genesis.json files to get the exact allocations at genesis:

Minted: 1,000,000,000 LUNA
Vested: 548,228,738.297767 LUNA
Validator base accounts: 12,600 LUNA (100 each to 126 validators at genesis)
Community Address: 328,483,790.931369 LUNA

Circulating Supply at Genesis: 123,274,870.770864 LUNA

Of which 5,000,000 LUNA is the emergency allocation so, there’s actually only 118,274,870.770864 LUNA available in circulation at genesis + whatever has been minted since then.

Note, the minimum vesting period is 6 months, so this supply will be super low until then, even then it’s slow released over months. I guess we should see demand out strip supply fairly quickly.

Current market cap is at 5.6b as per coinmarket cap and as per your chart it should be at 40$. Based on what did you calculated the price???.

Yes, so the market cap is much lower than people expect it to be right now, sitting under 350M, when you consider the original combined market caps of luna+ust were over 60B, there’s considerable scope to grow, and perhaps limited downside.
